For example, you can listen to “what is autumn” and learn new vocabulary about the seasons and the weather, as the lyrics describe the beautiful fall sky (осень), the rain (дождь) and the wind (ветер). “Чебурашка” (Cheburashka)- Cartoon Song

Cheburaska is a popular cartoon from the Soviet era and this is its theme tune. As a song meant for children, it’s catchy and easy to learn because it includes a lot of repetition. The track describes a little monster which resembles a lion cub with monkey-like ears that loves oranges and lives in a tropical forest. And the best thing is that, with the cartoon being so popular, you can find videos on YouTube that include English subtitles, so you’ll be able to complement your knowledge of Russian with the lyrics in English if you need them! Enjoy this song here!

Выше- Nyusha

If you want to improve your listening comprehension while enjoying great music, Выше by Nyusha is an excellent option. This is a nice song to sing along to because you’ll perfect your pronunciation and grasp some of the consonant clusters that exist in Russian. Plus, you can use this track to improve your grammar. For example, it features the past and the future tenses, so you can put to use what you learn in your Russian course. For instance, the phrase “I wanted” is repeated all throughout the song, so you won’t have trouble remembering this useful verb later. Enjoy great music here!
