These Portuguese lessons are more general in nature and are targeted at students who have a whole range of different needs. While all beginners level students can expect to cover Survival Portuguese—required for short visits to a country where English may not be spoken and/or the intention is to make good contacts with the local population—students then generally progress in different directions depending on their needs. Typical students include those buying property overseas, spouses of overseas nationals, people about to set off on that long-awaited world trip, Portuguese-culture enthusiasts and those who are keen to pass a particular Portuguese examination. These lessons in Portuguese are meant for those who feel that learning Portuguese would make a change in their work. For starters, it is expedient to learn how to say hello/goodbye, as well as basic business protocol; once the basics have been mastered, reading and writing come to the fore. Students who have greatly benefited have been involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, jobseekers in multinational companies where another language is required and those working in the international academia and government circuits. Those wishing to learn Portuguese in groups of two or more together (Two-to-One Portuguese Lessons or Small Group In-Company Portuguese Lessons) can sign up for our group classes. All students must be at nearly the same level of Portuguese proficiency, have the same needs from the language and must be able to study at the same time and place as the others. Bookings must be made for all students simultaneously. Listen & Learn does not suggest group sizes of more than 6-8 people, but In-Company Taster Portuguese Lessons can occur with up to 12 people. You and your group can be trained by our native speaker qualified Portuguese teachers and can meet at your place of work or home at a time that works best for you. Tutorials can take place any day of the week, including weekends, and can be scheduled for the morning, afternoon or evening. If your home or office is not fitting for you, you can attend the lesson at the teacher's offices. You will be provided with all relevant lesson materials. Lessons in Portuguese are also accessible for two or more people studying in tandem (Two-to-One Portuguese Lessons or Small Group In-Company Portuguese Lessons). All those involved must have around the same experience of the language, similar needs of areas of proficiency and must be able to meet at the same time and place. Bookings must be made for all students at the same time. Listen & Learn does not advise classes of more than 6-8 people, though In-Company Taster Portuguese sessions can be run with as many as 12 people.
